Helen Deakin

Helen teaches piano, clarinet, flute and theory of music. She is a very experienced teacher and has run a flourishing private teaching practice for over 25 years, working with all ages and stages, children and adults, from beginners to diploma level. She was principal tutor on the diploma course at Rugby College and an instrumental tutor at Dartington College of Arts.

Helen also presents classes in piano performance / piano teaching / practical musicianship / instrumental teaching techniques. She directs a series of piano and piano teachers workshops at her local Arts Centre (where she is also a Trustee). She is much in demand, giving presentations on all aspects of performing and teaching. Helen also gives consultation lessons and/or lesson observations for teachers who want to develop their teaching skills further and/or prepare for instrumental teaching diplomas. She is very pleased to discuss specific requirements with anyone interested in arranging a consultation/observation.
